Bung Hatta Nature Reserve

Nature reserve of Dr. Muhammad Hatta is located in Padang Municipality, West Sumatra. It is 240 hectares, and will be developed 70.000hectares. Based on administration, it belongs to 3 Regencies and 1 Municipality; Solok Regency is about 15,575 hectares. Tanah Datar Regency is about 5,600 hectares, Padang Pariaman Regency is about 32,150 hectares and Padang Municipality is about 22.075 hectares. Beside that, it belongs to 11 sub districts, there are : Gunung Talang, Singkarak, Kubuang, Batipuah, Koto, Cungkuang, Lubuak Aluang, Batang Anai, Koto Tangah, Kuranji and Lubuak Kilangan.

The development of Bung Hatta Nature Reserve with 240 hectares is determinates by President Decision (Kepres) No. 35 in 1981 at August 1, 1986 and was opened by Vice President. Firstly, the name of nature reserve was Wana Mulya. To commemorative the Indonesia proclamator of Dr. Muhammad Hatta, Wana Mulya is become Dr. Muhammad Hatta (Bung Hatta) Nature Reserve. The configuration of the nature reserve area is slight wave and 300 until 2,00 meters above sea level. In the certain part, there are limes hills by stepping wall and aluvialfan called “Flurial volcanic fan” come from infamous volcanic mountain. The area is a natural attraction which has beauty of nature enjoyed by visitor. Some formulations of the nature reserve’s geology are Tufa Volcano and a few of them are Granite and Diorite.

Area of the nature reserve is dominated by primary forest with kind of trees. Atocarpus sp, Arenga Obtusifolia and Vilebrunia rubescens, Litsea sp and Sizyqium sp, Anisophylla sp and Eugenia Acutanguulum. Beside that, kinds of shrub at the area; Glichenia, Malastoma and Clibadium, orchids, bamboo, pandan and Scluria. It also can be found Raflesia, Amorphophallus flower and Ixora sp. at the area. The panoramic views can be found here, such as the view of Padang beach, Lake Singkarak, Lembah Anai waterfall, beautiful view of mountains included with its forests and rivers.
