Tari Piring (Plates Dance)

This dance is very popular. It’s usually performed at the harvest party and wedding occasion by 1 to 10 dancers. This dance uses plates as th main instrument and then supported by talempong pacik (hand traditional music tools), flute made of paddy’s bar and “gendang katindiank”. Tari Payung (Umbrella Dance)

It’s a Minangkabau friendship dance that tells the cheerful of young couple. The music is Minangkabau one with the specific tone by using knocking at hand drum. The main dancers wear “taluak balango” (the traditional clothes), kopiah (traditional hat), trouser and sarong. The women dancers wear small suntiang, “baju kuruang (traditional clothes for ladies), songket and long shawl. They play an umbrella together or in turn. Tari Pasambahan (Welcoming Dance)

Pasambahan dance is a welcome dance played by a group of players. One dancer carries a carano (offering plate) usually filled in with betlenuts, and oneor two girls will open the carano cover for the respected guest to take the contents. Tari Gelombang (Wave Dance)

This dance is performed to welcome respected guests which the movements are based on pencak silat performance. All equipments used in the dance and clothes used by The dancers can usually be obtained from the traditional wedding supplies.
